Imidazodipeptide
The bar-tailed godwit that breeds within the Arctic Circle in western Alaska migrates to Australia and New Zealand for the winter. The distance from Alaska to New Zealand is 11,000 kilometers, requiring the bar-tailed godwit to fly non-stop over the vast Pacific Ocean without landing, demonstrating astonishing endurance.
Studies have shown that it is due to the presence of the amino acid complex imidodipeptide in the breast meat of the bar-tailed godwit, which is 3 to 4 times the content found in beef and pork. Tuna, which migrates at a top speed of 100 km per hour without stopping, also has a large amount of imidodipeptide in its tail muscles.
Imidazole dipeptides (IDPs) are a class of natural dipeptide compounds containing imidazole groups, mainly composed of carnosine (β-alanyl-L-histidine), anserine (β-alanyl-3-methyl-L-histidine), etc.

➡️ It is widely present in animal muscle tissues, especially in long-distance migrating animals (such as the pectoral muscles of migratory birds and migratory fish), and it is also found in human skeletal muscles and brain tissues.
➡️ Chicken breast meat contains the highest amount of this nutrient (approximately 1.2g per 100g), which is higher than that found in beef, pork, and tuna, among others.
➡️ As people age, the concentration of imidazole dipeptides in the human body decreases, and vegetarians are prone to lacking the precursors for synthesis (β-alanine and histidine).
